I couldn’t stop thinking about the 2012 Aurora, Colorado massacre this weekend after first hearing about it when I met friends in a packed theatre.

I decided to create a teaching resource about how the event was covered by the media, as I expect the shooting will be on the mind of many students.

You can find the resource on Slideshare, where it is available for all teachers to distribute, remix, tweak and build upon.

The resource was created with Media Studies teachers in mind, and the NCEA Achievement Standard 1.3 - Demonstrate understanding of the media coverage of a current issue or event.

Let me know what you think. Your feedback appreciated.
